All my local rivers are mixed coarse/game waters and I would like to try my hand at fly fishing for Chub during the Trout closed season. Anyone have suggestions for good wet flies for this fish over the winter months.

In winter stinky cheese paste is the way to go or at least a very static fly that looks and smells like stinky cheese paste!

I use those baits when coarse fishing. But want to try a fly this year. I did think about the old dog biscuit superglued to a hook but it feels "wrong" to fly fish with an actual bait.

Lures are a good bet for winter chub. Fish them to structure and the usual chubby features. If pike are abundant in your waters, use a light wire tippet as one is bound to strike!
