I don't really think it fair to compare best "small water" ...simply besause there is such a big price difference in waters like Avington when compared to Elinor..

Reservoirs, Chew, Rutland, Draycote, Grafham etc.... are all in the same price bracket give or take £5....but with small waters cost varies a lot..

So perhaps under £25 small stillwater and over £26 small stillwater

anyway just a thought .


As for Chew.....really !!!! I can't comment on it since i've not fished it for a couple of years, but I was under the impression it's just a Pike lake now...and the trout fishing is not as good as it was..

Not fished enough around the country to compare but for my area Garnffrwd has to be the best smallwater by far.

Best breakfast cafe at a reservoir /water? - Wilmas Bacon and Egg rolls at Alderneuk

Best book on fishing? Fly Tyers Bible

Best magazine on fishing? Trout Fisherman

Best loch? Melvin
Best river? The drowes
Best small stillwater? Swanswater
Best reservoir/fishery manager? The people at the Lake of Menteith
Bet tackle shop? Glasgow Angling
Best food place at fishery? Don't have a clue
Best book on fishing? Trout and salmon flies of scotland or trout and salmon flies of ireland
Best magazine? Fly fishing and fly tying
