You Greys rod is covered for breakage due to faulty workmanship for twelve months. Send the broken sections back to Greys at Alnwick with a letter how it broke. They will assess it and send you replacement sections FOC if they are satisfied the rod wasn't weakened prior to breakage. Iv'e trapped a rod and next time I used it it snapped.Greys rods are covered by ULG.

Unconditional Lifetime Guarantee

For this ULG to become effective, you must register with us within 21 days of purchase. To ensure immediate cover we recommend using the registration form on the Greys website.

Please retain your original proof of purchase as this will be necessary when making a claim.

The ULG applies to the original owner only. It is given in addition to your statutory rights under the laws of England and Wales.

The ULG applies only to all new and current Hardy & Greys Limited carbon fibre rods purchased from an authorised Hardy dealer effective January 2002.

The ULG does not cover intentional breakage or ordinary wear and tear.

A handling charge will apply per section per claim. (Currently set at £40 per section per claim for Greys Game, Carp & Coarse rods, and £50 per section per claim for Greys Sea rods).

So let me get this right, IF greys decide it is covered by the warranty they will charge him 80 quid to put it right? And if they decide it is not covered what then?
That warranty is not what you'd call a great deal is it? I can (and have) send a rod back to Sage in the USA from NZ and get a replacement section under the Sage lifetime gaurantee for less than half that price including shipping to the States from NZ. No questions asked the faulty piece is replaced.
All the best.
Mike

If faulty and deemed a manufacturing defect, it will be replaced for free. If due to miss-handling he will be charged under the ULG warranty.

This should be a fairly easy defective claim due to the fault and age of the rod.... If they push back just don't accept it. And remember to advise them you are a member on here and will share your experience with them if they give you any hassle.
