Use your own braided loops but apply some bug bond over the finish to keep it smooth through the rings of your rod, works a treat!

are you using the rubber sleeve over the end of the braid ?? if so dont ..get some of these then whip the end of the braid to the fly line and secure with a small dab of zap a gap glue or other rubberised cemet/glue or even aquasure ,then a couple of thin coats of varnish to waterproof it ,if you use the aquasure no need to varnish it as its totally waterproof and very flexible and less prone to hinging

Don't use a braided loop but instead needle knot a sacrificial butt of thick monofilament to the fly line and then add your leader to the thick monofilament. It slips easily through the rods rings and improves the turnover of your leader when you cast. There are many other advantages and you can get more information, including the easy way to tie the needle knot, here. Dry Fly 'Expert': Leader linguistics, tippet talk and tips...

I have set up all m lines now in the following way after being shown it in the czech rep. you still need a mini perfection loop in you leader, but no braided loop is involved at all. The line lands like thistle down and i dont think i'll ever you back to putting a braided loop on.

1. strip the outer sheath off the last 20mm of your line leaving only the thread core.
2. fold it over to form a small loop.
3. whip the loose end to to close the loop using strong tying thread. go back and forth 3 or 4 times.
4. seal the whipping with aquasure.
