I posted some shots on the North Am Fly Fishing Forum but I wanted to share with my fellow fishers from across the pond. I grew up fishing spring creeks and spring fed rivers for trout both brown and rainbows. This particular river is located about 2 hours from my home in the middle of the US.
On this day we were on the river and landed fish before the sun peeked above the canyon walls. The fish were all rainbows, wild and full of vigor. The fish were taken in the fast runs that are best fished with two nymphs, both weighted and added weight to the leader.
Rods of choice are 10ft 5 weights but I always carry a 9 ft 3 weight in my kayak to throw large bushy dry flies. While we caught all rainbows we did see three large browns prepping for the fall spawn. The sizes of these fish ranged from an estimated 5 pounds on the smallest to what appeared to be near 13 pounds on the largest.
Hope you all like a small taste of my home-
