How do you decide on tippet/leader length when fishing with an intermediate line on stillwaters?

Colin, not an easy question to answer, it will depend on type of fly, depth of fish, and weather conditions. Try to use the longest leader you can happily cast with.

What i tend to do is use a short ish leader ( 6-10ft ) and unweighted flies.This keeps the line and fly ( s ) in roughly a level plain and then i use a count down method

Stick to a 9ft, you won't go far wrong. A longer leader for delicate dry fly fishing .
