Default Fishing Jacket needs waterproofed

I have a Scierra wading jacket which has started leaking. The jacket is still in good condition so I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction of what product to buy to water proof the jacket and if it is costly.

Cheers Alex

Hi Al. It will depend on the the material of the jacket. You can buy a wash in waterproofing liquid, spray on's & wax. You can normally buy them for around £10.

Nikwax is a good product, wash in or spray on.

Hi,
Assuming it a breathable material I would recommend washing it in Nikwax pure soap and then washing in Nikwax proofing for breathables. Works for me.
Cheers

Good advice - then reproof it with TX direct.

If you have washed a breathable jacket with detergent, it would be a pretty good candidate for the reason it is leaking in the first place.

Default Guideline Explorer Wading Jacket - Not Waterproof?

Hijacking your thread! hope you dont mind.....

I have a guideline Explorer Jacket which is about 8 months old and it isnt waterproof.
I have used Techwash twice and the water still soaks in instead of beading off? I have also used the the other one thats for waterproofing fleese, cant recall the name but its all from the same company...

Its a teflon coated outer which is supposed to help waterproof it.. Should i be using something else?

Or should i just bin it!? Anyone else had this jacket and do you have the same issue?
