We met Hugh Bunker, Fisheries Officer for the Environment Agency and James Roche from the Angling Development Board, this week.
James has worked very hard on behalf of the Rutland Water Fly Fishers and secured a grant of £3250.00, which will be spent on tackle which will be used by participants.
Hugh Bunker, of the Environment Agency, said. "I am so pleased Rutland Water Fly Fishers are running this event in July. I am thrilled the club has asked for our support and that we are able to contribute to the largest youth fly fishing day ever. This event promises to be a fantastic day for all involved."
Last night we made a short presentation to the Grafham Water Fly Fishers about the day and got some great feedback. Five of them put their names down to help out on the day. Thanks lads.
This means we now have 15 boatmen. 3 Youths have signed up and paid, not bad when you think we are still 6 months to go.
The Fly Dressers Guild are coming along to the day, they will be running their 'tie your first fly' stand. How good will that be for a complete beginner to tie their first fly, then go out and catch their first fish!
