We have a Poster! Many thanks to Cliff Waters of fishypics for his help with the design.

Click the image to open in full size.

If anyone would like a high res copy of this image to print off and put up in their local fishery, please let me know.

The website is live, just needs a bit of fine tuning.

We have also had some great offers of support from members of the forum and from admin.

Please watch this space for more updates. If you can handle a boat and feel you can help on the day, please get in touch.

Jeremy

We now have a major sponsor!

James Roche, of the Angling Development Board has been working very hard on our behalf. He has managed to secure a very generous grant from the Environment Agency.

Please help us make this event a success. As stated before, we want to introduce as many youngsters to the sport as possible. If you are planning your 2012 fishing diary, please consider helping out as a boatman on the day. Hopefully the event will not clash with any major competitions. We have booked the entire Rutland fleet for the day, which means we could potentially get 130 kids out on the water! EEK!

I will keep this thread updated on a more regular basis in the New Year.

Happy Christmas to all of you!

Jeremy

I will happily bung in a reel and perhaps some other goodies too.

One hopes that a few other Forum chaps will chuck in a few things too.

As previous, I put my name forward as a Boatman alebit young Allisha may insist on coming with "her Ben" .......I think it may be slightly different for girls on a boat

Perhaps some buffs for the Summer Sun may be called for too

Jeremy, can you put up a list of who has already signed up so that folk can see whether we need more people or not?

.

Being a boatman for the day is the next best thing to fishing.

What a great way to put something back into the sport you love

If you don't have children of the right age , bring your nephew or niece , be their best uncle ever.

Come on don't be shy you know you will have fun.

We will be having a table at the newly resurrected Rutland Fly Fair on the 4th March at Uppingham Community College.

Stuart from the Eyebrook tackle shop is running it after a 5 year absence, full details here: Rutland Fly Fair

Come along and get yourself signed up to be a boatman, or sign up your kids for the Grand Day Out!

We met Hugh Bunker, Fisheries Officer for the Environment Agency and James Roche from the Angling Development Board, this week.

James has worked very hard on behalf of the Rutland Water Fly Fishers and secured a grant of £3250.00, which will be spent on tackle which will be used by participants.

Hugh Bunker, of the Environment Agency, said. "I am so pleased Rutland Water Fly Fishers are running this event in July. I am thrilled the club has asked for our support and that we are able to contribute to the largest youth fly fishing day ever. This event promises to be a fantastic day for all involved."

Last night we made a short presentation to the Grafham Water Fly Fishers about the day and got some great feedback. Five of them put their names down to help out on the day. Thanks lads.

This means we now have 15 boatmen. 3 Youths have signed up and paid, not bad when you think we are still 6 months to go.

The Fly Dressers Guild are coming along to the day, they will be running their 'tie your first fly' stand. How good will that be for a complete beginner to tie their first fly, then go out and catch their first fish!
