Buy a cheap pair of reading specs. They are just magnifying lenses, no need for a prescription. Pound shop ones work well enough.

Can't catch a fish if your line is out of the water!

Sharkey's right about cheap readers. And keep a spare pair in the car.
The other thing is to remember to cut the end of your tippet with scissors or clippers when changing your fly - don't bite it off, that can flatten the end of your tippet and make it harder to thread through the eye. Also have a pin to clear the eye of your fly of varnish.

All difficult things to see when your eyesight isn't what it once was. (You are not alone)

Try and tie on the fly against a dark background, it shows up the tippet.

If the worst comes to the worst, don't be worried about asking another angler to help you out. The vast majority are only too willing to help.

I bought a set of magnifying lenses from John Noriis that clip on your normal glasses as I used to struggle tying flies on-now no problem-also helps when I,m tying flies, too.

I find the clip-on magnifiers work well, but if you don't wear specs then a pair of reading glasses are a good idea. The dark background is a good tip, and definitely never bite the tippet - always use proper line "nippers". I always check the eyes on new flies to make sure they are free of varnish before popping them in the fly box and taking them fishing.

Whilst I'm a little clumsy naturally and struggle with size 18s downwards & the associated fine tippets, I feel it is better to take however long/ many attempts necessary to tie a good knot that will hold. Hell, I've even been known to employ a tree branch or two to REALLY test my knots.....

Another good tip is to get one of those magnetised fly threading aids.
