Default pike on a fly

went pike fly fishing for the first time on sunday on esthwaite water,
got there for 8 nothing doing all morning quick break for lunch then back to it.

had a couple of knocks then nothing until around 3 when bingo a pike liked the look of my roach lookalike, i was in to the biggest fish of my short fly fishing adventure he led me a merry dance for what seemed ages everytime i got him anywhere near the boat he just took off.
when i finally landed him i was gobsmacked to see such an awsome fish i felt quite tearfull and honoured to have caught such a fish quite overwhelming really.
seems strange to feel that way about a fish, but thats how i felt, crazy i know.

i put him back and off he went i sat down in boat looked at my mate and said can you believe that he looked back and smiled shaking his head dont think any of us could really believe it.

my pike turned out to be 16lb 9oz.
this was the only fish we caught and was my best catch todate

just thought id share it with you guys.
thanks for reading and sharing my pike adventure with me.
soon as get simcard of my mate will post pics.

atb terry

Well done !! Good way to start

I know exactly what you mean , they are the top predator we have and really look the part don't they ! They pull back a bit as well

Every time I hook a big'n I get tingles in places I am not so sure I should do

Look forward to the pics ...
