Default Rapala Knot for lure fishing

One of my mates uses this on bigger goldhead type lures and claims it helps them swim better.

Anyone else believe that or use it much ?

Wouldn't think it makes any difference for trout considering how thin and supple leader is.

I have used it in the past on flies and find it only makes a difference if using thick lines. The smaller diameter lines (such as the excellent ASSO) should not require it.

I use it extensively when chucking plugs and it is a good knot as it negates using a snap swivel which I dislike on smaller plugs and in general as I feel it creates too much slack to work well with a snap-wristed retrieve.

Hope that helps

Benjamin

Concur with Benjamin - the perfect knot when salmon fishing and using say 15lb bs Maxima with smaller doubles or trebles.

Tenet

ps - could be ok with tying droppers on when fishing a team of buzzers even if you are using Asso!

Yup, Angler B, really rates it as does my boat partner in the match on Brenig, who was using it on his point booby.
