Default Great Day..

Just thought I'd put a few words down about how this forum brings people
together. Yesterday I meet up with Andrew "buzzerfan" And spent a great
afternoon casting different rods in his back garden he's even more of a tart
than me Followed by a bit of lunch then off to his local water and yes
it was roasting hot still I managed to top up my red neck tan!! And caught
3 of the best fighting Rainbows I've had in a long time plus the 3 Andrew
caught ment we bagged up Many thanks Andrew really enjoyed
it.

P.S. And I got to compare my B3X 5wt with His B2X 5wt,

Colin.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable day, and Colin is great fun. Will definitely repeat next season but I'm really not sure why he thinks I am a bigger tackle tart than him !

Diarmid, I sold Colin the IIIx because I really couldn't identify a big difference between the two. I think the IIIx is a marginally better casting tool, however now that I have got to know the IIx I have no problem putting out the whole line when needed and I no longer suffer the tailing loops I had when I first got the rod. Effectively I have learned how to handle her (are rods female?) and definitely learned not to 'over do it' on the forward haul, the IIx hates to be bullied. I'm sure Colin will agree as we spent an hour or so playing with different rods on the grass. The IIIx does feel as though it has a slightly smoother transfer of power. Personally I marginally prefer playing fish on the IIx, and got Colin to play one I'd hooked so that he could compare the two, not certain he found a discernible difference, but then his fish were bigger than mine !

I am so pleased with the IIx that I have now bought a brand new identical 'spare' in case anything happened to mine. I am sincerely hoping that it has identical characteristics to my current rod, because I am not suffering the issues that I have read about in some of the reviews such as the rod 'folding' when carrying a lot of line. so hope mine isn't a 'one off'!.

Andrew

Congratulations on a day spent doing what you love. Would love to do the same, but afraid I,m no tackle tart-I only have a few rods and reels as I,ve had to rebuild my stock from scratch. Afraid I,ll have to dream for now as I live a fair distance from both of you.

Andrew, i love the 2X also but felt the tip just a bit too soft for my liking..i have had 2 of them hoping that the next would be better, as for playing fish with them..there is not much better out there
cheers Diarmid.

Hi Diarmid sorry for the delay in replying.. After
using both the difference is slight but noticeable
in that the 3X has a wee bit more grunt and maybe
a little faster in the tip but still with that wonderful
winny feel. If you ever get down this way and want
a go drop me a line
