Hi josh
Here's the latest info off the bulletin board.

Week ending 25 September 2011

Fish week 1,049 (20,971 season) Returns 260 (5,154) Rod average 4.03 (4.06)

Bank and boat anglers are enjoying excellent sport at Grafham Water with fish feeding mainly on shrimp or snails. The snail feeders have generally been caught on the western end of the reservoir and the shrimp feeders along the northern shore and the dam area.

Bank anglers this week enjoyed great success along the southern and bowl areas of the dam with Gaynes Cove and the G buoy area also producing good catch rates. The main methods for the bank anglers have been floating lines with shrimp patterns, diawl bachs, hares ears, crunchers and minkies.

Boat anglers have also had a great week’s fishing with Gaynes Cove, G and D buoys, the Willows, deep Water Point and Rectory Bay all producing good consistent angling. The boat anglers’ main tactics for the week were sink tip lines with diawl bachs, crunchers, hares ears, coral boobies, claret hoppers and cats whiskers fished with a slow figure of eight retrieve.

Hope this helps.

BK

I was on Grafham on Wednesday.

Fish are deep down, I had 2 on a small two tone blob down at the dam. Other flies I had on were diawl bach and cruncher

Fish were all along the dam as I had plenty of interest, just couldnt convert.

Pulling back very slowly on a midge tip, the wind was coming off the dam wall, getting really close in and drifting out.

Let us know how you get on.

I fished last Sunday from bank (Gaynes Cove & Dam). Apart from leaking waders I had 1 violent pull on a shrimp pattern that straightened the hook. Spoke to some others and they struggled as well but I saw lots of fry leaping by the weed beds.

I'm going to wait till the weather cools before returning. Never had much success when it's really bright.

I took my kids yesterday and we had 4...all on crunchers and a floater..

Best area's i feel are:-

G buoy and the stones at Marlow Jetty.
50m either side of the tower on the Dam...

Literally chuck it out 10 - 15 yards and hold on...fish ultra slow or static and wait for the fish......it's better to cast at an angle along the dam rather than out into open water as the fish are so close in and are running along the dam.

hare's ears also a good bet as the fish are hard on shrimp

Very warm today!!!

Got out early, motored over to G and caught a plump 3lb rainbow on my first cast .... used a sink tip with gold head cats whisker on the point, grhe middle & red holo diawl on the top dropper .... trout took the point fly with venom

....therefore, thought I was in for a feast...but...8 hrs later I'd not the slightest bit of interest

I'd covered all the hotspots mentioned before, saw another angler land a fish at Deep Water Point fairly close in, tried the Dam, Gaynes, all of the North Shore with varying tactics ... even a Di-7 with a Minkie Booby on a shortish leader .... all to no avail!

Maybe the trout had had enough following a week of high summer temperatures?

Anyone else got a report?

Cheers
