Default Need help on Scotland Fly Fishing (New to fishing)

I am going to Kilmartin in Argyll next month (just west of Loch Fyne) and am looking to do some Fly Fishing but am very unsure of the rules/permits needed.

I'm very new to fishing -less than a year- so any help would be much appreciated as I don't want to break any laws/fish illegally.

It seems to be extremely complicated where/when you can fish in Scotland so any local knowledge would be much appreciated!!

1) The trout fishing season ends on 6th October which is before I get there. Is it possible to still fish inland Loch's or rivers for Grayling/Rudd etc.. or is it not accepted since I might catch a Trout by accident. If it is possible to fish for Grayling etc... would I need a permit to do so?

2) I've read that it is possible to fish sea lochs without a permit all year round but only in certain areas. Is this true and if so how do you find out where it's ok to fish?

3)Finally any tips on good places to go to? Was just looking to cast from a bank.

Many thanks if you can answer some/any of these questions!

You can fish for coarse fish all year in Scotland, generally free or at a very modest cost.
You can fish for grayling outwith the trout season, but there aint no grayling in that bit of Argyle. The Tay or Tummel would be the nearests.
You are not able to fish for (sea) trout in the sea lochs all year round, only within the prescribed seasons. You can fish for sea fish like mullet etc and there are loads of them.
The salmon/ sea trout rivers in the area are very dependant on a bit of rain to bring them into order. They can also be difficult to get permits for.
Best bet is to contact,

Most has been covered by Maharg.

One anomoly in law is there is a legal distinction between brown trout that have been to sea and those that haven't. A legal quagmire!
As a result of this I can fish for these searun brown trout in my area (Loch Lomond) until 31st October. The season for sea run brown and salmon varies from catchment to catchment. You may find that you can obtain a permit to fish for these seatrout and salmon in the area after the 6th of October.
