Well I had the first cast of the Atomsix rod today, I paired it up with a Silver Abel big game reel and a Rio gold 6wt line.
With the silver trim on the rod and the Abel it looked the dogs *******s!
I was going to take some pics but I had forgotten my camera.
My first impression when casting the rod was that it was pretty stiff but once I got in to the swing of things I really liked it and when I say really liked it I mean it.
This is a lovely rod to fish with and I enjoyed every minute of it, infact it was hard to put it down.
I was only fishing for about an hour and I never caught a fish which is probably because I was having so much fun just flicking the line in and out that I did not do any fishing.
I never had a chance to try it with a 7wt line but it suited the Rio Gold so well I did not feel the need to change up a weight.
I think I need to write to Santa and hope he is kind to me this Christmas.
I had a great opportunity today, I had the Italian technical director for Diawa and the chief Engineer from Diawa up fishing at Tinto today.
The chief engineer is Japanese and he is the guy who designs all the rods produced in Scotland, his English is not great but I explained to him about the Atom six new rods etc and he was very interested.
He had a cast of the rod and he also really liked it, he liked the flex that the rod had in the tip and he was casting a lovely line with it.
I was hoping for some constructive criticism from him but with the poor English spoken and my **** poor Japanese I did not get much info from him apart from the usual nodding and smiling say very nice rod, very nice rod, very nice rod.
The Italian also had a cast of the rod and he liked it but he was more impressed with the finish on the rod.
To sum up, I am very impressed with the action of the rod, it suits my poor casting style very well and it would be my go to rod if I was lucky enough to have one.
I wonder if Atom six take Sage rods as trade ins?
I am not ready to send it back just yet, got some more testing to do
