Default Who wants to go to Barnsfold on 23 October ?

Following the success of the 25 September meet members confirmed they would like to have one more meet before the end of the year. As it's my job to find a venue I decided to suggest Barnsfold again. It has everything we like for fishing and a cabin to have lunch in. If it's cold I'll arrange for the wood burning stove to be lit. A remark by Rankin got me thinking "If the fly's working don't change it" or in other words if the wheel aint broken don't mend it. Well Barnsfold suited us all so why not go back?
There were float tubers on the lakes yesterday and this would give Phil and Tupps a chance to show what float tubers do best whatever that is?I need your approval and subject to this the Lancsy Lads are off again in four weeks time 23 October.

Alban

As you know, I like Barnsfold so would always be happy to go there. However, I'm always up for somewhere new.

I was chatting to Ged at the end and I think he has an idea or two.

The only other place realistic place that I could think of within striking range is Westlow Mere. It's a good price and no stew pond. However it's further for the Lancaster and Carlisle lads and could be a bit crowded on a Sunday. They have boats, but I'm not sure about float tubing

With the nights drawing in, the southern lakes might be a bit far. High Newton is an hour and a half from Sale according to Google. High N, Ghyll Head, Bigland or Watendlath might be good next summer? ( assuming big phil hasn't drowned us all in a fit of pique)

Bill

Westlow is where I do most of my fishing,it has some superb evening rises and is very well priced. They have a few boats and is how I like to fish the place always do well in a boat at westlow The high banks at the back of you can be a problem for me but I'm sure all you chaps would be fine. as much as I love the place don't think its in the same league as barnsfold, but im not bothered where we end up

Just for the record - how crowded does it get on Sundays? And is it just the deeps that are worth fishing, or are the shallows worth fishing as well?

Not too sure bill I normally go mid week but can see it getting busy as it has members who pay yearly subscriptions,I find the deeps fish better with most fish caught just a few yards from the bank but equally the shallows fish well and generally more sheltered from the wind.It is a brilliant dry fly warter which is why I go but most patterns work and the chaps in the lodge are more than helpful,it is a great warter and would I'm sure everyone would like it,but not sure if coming off the back of a barnsfold visit it would be a bit of a anticlimax.
