Default restoring an old lureflash rod...

A mate of mine gave me an old lureflash 10'6" 2 piece rod. There's not alot of info on it, other than IM6 7/9.

To me it has a really sloppy action, when you hold it horizontal and give it a wiggle, it seems to be the middle of the rod that goes to and fro, the tip just seems to follow.

Probably just my inexperience with rods like this, but other, more modern rods I have from shakey through to greys, to get the middle wobbling in the same way, you almost have to let the tip start working to inducuce the bend down the middle, and it takes much more effort.

Is this just the difference between older and modern carbon, or simply just the difference between fast and slow action rods?

I had half a mind to try and restore it over winter, the cork is shot, the seat is cheap plastic, and the guides are ceramic and a bit small for me.

Is it worth the bother? or is it a case of polishing a turd?

cheers

Refurbishing a rod is twice the work of building a on new blank, which in turn usually costs more than the equivalent rod second hand. Put that kind of effort into something worth keeping.

You can't polish a turd mate.

I'll bow to your advice !

But what about the action? Is that how they were, back in the day?
