Different fishings in both lochs.
One is inland loch with runs of salmon/sea trout going through,(from both ends!),
other is sea loch (deep) with a large variety of sea fish.
both can be fished from bank, but are better fished from boat.

permits required on Loch Eck

Rules & Regulations » Dunoon & District Angling Club - DDAC - Game Angling In Cowal

Scroll down page for loch eck. closes last day in october.

None required on Loch Long. (migratory fish MUST be returned)

Fishing Loch Long

If it was me, would probably be Eck, at Strachur end, from boat, where River Cur exits, as way back in my distant past we caught a lot more back end fish from Cur than Echaig.

Long will be good for boat fishing for codling, eels, and the odd spurdog, but not much else.
regards
bert
