Default Where to fish in Fife?

Hi all,

Have searched but couldn't glean anything certain so would like some pointers please. I'm working in Fife during the week until November. Next week I'll be bringing the car up so can bring some fishing tackle too.

Question is, where is there some cost effective (ie not expensive) day ticket water in Fife and what gear will I need to bring? I've never fished this neck of the woods before. Advice on tackle and flies would therefore be useful if poss.

I prefer rivers but can bring trout, salt/seatrout and/or salmon gear with me. Anything goes - I just want to get on the water!

Any help gratefully received.

Thanks.

Ben

Loch Glow is definately worth a trip. It's bait and fly but there's plenty of room and the fly life is usualy superb. It also fits nicely into your priceband - it's only £8.

What days are you looking to fish? and would you prefer river?2 main rivers with salmon running at the moment and plenty of wee brownies plus several small streams, or stillwater? there are lots of small put and take fisheries, a couple of spring fed gin clear jobbies and a couple of largish reservoirs. Where you going to be working? Jon

The Stenhouse Reservoir has been fishing well this year and is very reasonable priced, methods are fly only from boat or bank. It's situated between cowdenbeath and burntisland not far off the A92 that runs from edinburgh too dundee. If you would like more info PM me and I can give you there number.

Guys,

That's absolutely brilliant - thank you.

Wiremill, flyfishing4lifejack - Loch Glow - thanks for the info. Will give it a try.

Ticklemetackle - Jon thanks. Any day during the week in general (I come down south at weekends) and rivers are definitely preferred (would love some salmon) but I'd like to try Loch fishing too. However I'll take anything at the moment! I'm working in Rosyth.

Manaleeto - good tip thank you.

Thanks again.

Ben

Thursday the 6th any good to you?, we can head down the Eden for the Day a 9.5ft or 10ft single hander will do you fine for the salmon. Have a look in my signature for the Eden website there are a few recent fish on there. I'm fairly flexible that week so we could play it by ear and hope for a wee bit rain.
For stillwater I would give Easter Balado or Golden loch a go both have excellent fish stocks, water clarity, a warm welcome and a brew if its windy. My wife works in Rosyth at HBOS or recoveries or whatever they've decided to change the format to this week.Jon

I will PM you - I owe you an apology. EDIT - But you need to clear out your PMs - I can't send to you.
