IMO unless your an expert caster the line could be no advantage. Rio bost that its revolutionary design allows for incredible loop stability at distance. It has
a unique taper that allows a rod to load at close range with perfect presentation of flies between #22 and #2.All this for £59.99. Again IMO any other good line about the £40 price range will achieve what you have described and need.

The Rio Gold is a lovely line but I don't quite understand what you mean by it 'suiting you'.

When all's said and done, and irrespective of its price tag, it's just a fly line and it won't 'suit you' any more than one of Stewart's (Pitsford Pirate) lines at half the price or less. They are both quality lines.

If you're saying that you're not too confident or experienced at casting a fly then the price tag on the box or no amount of marketing blurb will provide a short cut to success or make another 5 meters any easier.

I like the Rio Golds. Saying that I also use a Greys Platinum and Snowbee XS. All cast well and I can get some distance with them all without hauling.
I have also used cheep lines and again, not problem as regards to distance.

It also depends on your rod that you are using as Rio Gold is +0.25 heavier than the recommended line wt. If you are using a powerfull fast action rod then it could probably take the Rio Gold no problem, on the other hand if it is a medium actioned mid flex type of rod then it may not suit it as well as a lighter line. It's a bit of trial and error to see what suits you and your rod best. The line itself is superb and would highly recommend it, but don't pay £59.99 for it, if you shop around you should get it for under £50.

Cheers Diarmid.

I use Rio Lines on almost all of my rods, but if you want distance you can't beat the Airflo 40+. Rio lines do what they say on the box, which is the main advantage with them, if it says Floater it floats, this can't be said of all lines.
However if you want to fish at distance double hauling will improve your distance more than a new line.
All the best.
Mike

I agree with Lighthouse...I have a Rio Gold WF floating line for small stillwater fishing, partly because I like the colour, I buy in to the old Dick Walker theory about unobtrusive coloured floating lines for rivers and small lakes.

It's certainly a lovely line to use and I particularly like the way the tip floats high without being oversize. But while it's three times the price, no way on this earth is the line better by a factor of three - ie three hundred percent - than a Barrio or Pitsford Pirate floating line. I may well not spend that much on a fly line again.

You won't improve your casting style in the tackle shop, perhaps spend some money on a couple of lessons with a qualified instructor ?
