Question Fly/Bait Fisheries around Edinburgh

Took my 12 year old to Loch Glow on Saturday and he thoroughly enjoyed himself. A second outing is now on the cards and I am unsure where else I could take him in and around the Edinburgh area.

Messy

PS I am trying to get him away from the bait stuff onto the real fishing

Morton, Markle and Tweedale all have small bait ponds. If your kid enjoyed casting far, these may be a bit small. On the flip side, the fish will generally be larger than Loch Glow which is why you'll have to pay more.

Last I heard the bait pond was not yet re-opened at Morton. That was a while ago though so worth giving them a ring to check.

I'd suggest Rosebery Reservoir (aka Roseberry). Has "any method" areas. Fly casting is a bit restricted in those areas what with the trees/banking but I managed ok. Tickets are fairly inflexible though - think it's £18/4 fish for 8am till 5pm. Just been there the once but I liked it.
