I thought to myself...no way..!! he,s having a laugh
I just had to try it today for myself, any excuse hey but boy was i surprised,i ginked a size 16 black&peacock and a few casts later had a trout
Managed to land 9 in total... has anyone ever tried this?

yep tried it on kennick reservoir over 25 years ago when beatles were being blown onto the surface but it wasnt my idea it was an old guy who had fished there for years. Glad someone is still using the old traditional patterns.

A lot of wet flies work well as dries if they are well soaked in floatant. The Black and Peacock spider is a fantastic fly. It's amazing how many old time flies have fallen out of popularity.

A Black + Peacock with a flou green tag fished wet OR dry works wonders at dusk!!

I caught my first fly caught trout, (4 of them, wild browns) on a floating B+P spider in 1962, age 11, flat calm, bright sunshine, and it has been a firm favourite ever since. Hence my Avatar!
