Default Gloves for winter....

I normally hibernate over winter in terms of fishing, but as FF keeps you active I will persevere...

My hands suffer terribly in the cold, what gloves do you lot reccomend?

Yes you'll need gloves for the Winter! But be assured, none of them work that well, get yourself a handwarmer! And some gloves of course.

Fingerless cycling gloves and it it's really cold and windy maybe some disposable rubber ones underneath.

I cant fish properly with gloves on but when it gets proper bitter i will wear nitrile disposable gloves just to stop the wind chill without loosing too much feeling.

Sealskin gloves are good but bloody expensive.

Keith Arthur's tip of using Vaseline AKA Petroleum Jelly is probably the best winter fishing tip of all time.

I just cannot fish in gloves they just get in the way ..... I have tried loads over the years. The nitriles are probably the best apart from they get very clammy after a while then they get cold too.

Take a really good dab of Vaseline while still in the car and rub and rub and rub and rub and rub. It does take some time to work it into the skin and the greasiness to disappear but it will.

Firstly you have increased and improved the circulation in your hands.

Secondly you have waterproofed and insulated your skin.

This works amazingly well and wellworth the little time it takes.

I have the snowbee neoprenes which work well enough, except for the 2 finger tips, but its the price you pay for being able to tie knots, the alternative would be the black Nitrile gloves I used to wear at the inshore fishing, but you would have to take them off to change any gear, easker1

I find Lammy shooters to be the best, don't like gloves in general but these "over Mittens" work really well.

I use a golf glove, this allows you to feel the rod & line. If it's wet wear a latex glove under it.
