Default Mid Clyde, Anyone fish there?

Hi,

Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

I have noticed most people fish the upper stretches here. I was wondering if anyone fishes the mid-clyde. I usually go down bothwell as its close to my house, but I have a car and can travel along this section. I am not going back up Blantyre way as its like Sauchiehall street.

Any hints where to go for some fishing? The biggest I have caught on the fly rod has been a 7inch brown trout. There must be bigger in there.

I mostly have been using nymphs.

cheers

graeme

Hi Graeme,
Fish the Mid Clyde mostly down at the Hoover in Cambuslang altho as I fly fish mostly you're pretty restricted by the jungle that grows there every year. Also been fishing the Avon this year and really enjoyed it. Check out here • Index page as we cover
the Clyde and its tribs.

I have heard the avon is good from another guy. Much is the years permit there? Are there a lot of good places to fish or is it just a couple of streches?

I know what you mean about the bushes. Also as soon as the water rises above 0.85-0.9m at daldowie you know you near enough cant go in. I only wish sepa would update there data around tea time as 6am is not really useful.

I have registered on the link you have sent, ill keep up to date with that also,

cheers

I know they will only show the best pictures but the avon website looks cracking. The upper avon looks like small burns, so it might annoy me.

I am defo going to get a permit for the avon next year. I stay 13.5 miles away from strathaven so i qualify as a local by 1.5miles

cheers for the links.
