Re: River Wharfe - Addingham
Rob - 3 of us fished today at Addingham (Addingham Angling Association stretch). We caught 0, 1 and 2. The first fish was caught almost straight away on a partridge & orange more or less straight down the field from the layby where you park, I caught the next two browns (about 6oz & 12oz, beautiful looking fish) within an hour and a half further upstream on the corner, I don't know the name of the fly but it has a brass bead head, short black hackle, peacock body and pink tail. I had more takes early on that were missed. The river conditions weren't ideal, there was plenty of water in it when we arrived but it was clear however by the time I left (about 2.00pm) it had risen a good foot and had coloured up.
There were lots of what looked like pale wateries about (they may have been something else, my fly ID isn't great but they looked like what I have seen on the Wye), with the odd larger fly and sedge - no trout rising though!
It wasn't a bad place to fish though and I will definately give it another try next season.
