Today had that last day of Summer feel to it and I can feel the Trout season running out so I had another dart on a local small stream, part of the Ribble catchment.
First fish was this perfect little Salmon Parr. I managed to get a snap when it stopped wriggling.
I've caught one other Parr in this stream before but I suspected it was a one off that had wandered upstream from the Ribble less than half a mile away. That looked less likely after I caught another three, not counting some probables that bounced off.
I also managed about half a dozen Brownies and a few minnows.
I had a chat with the Farmer and he was surprised there were Parr in there but he did confirm a tale I'd heard about people catching Dabs (flatfish) in the brook many years ago.
