Default New owner of local angling shop - THE Jim Milne?

Hi folks - new to the forum and my first year of fly fishing. Mainly on the River Devon, once at the Glenquey FIshery (when it was too high!) and a couple of wanders further anorth are all I have to my name at the moment - but we live n learn

Anyway I wonder if any clackmannanshire anglers have noticed the Alloa Angling Shop is now (finally!) in new hands? Seems the guy specialises in fly fishing and fly tying. So I asked around and it would appear the gentleman in question is none other than Jim Milne - master fly tyer and author of a book on Clyde Angling? If so, I reckon this once creaky and badly run business could now be in good hands - however I dont want this to sound like an advert for obvious reasons, but do we at last have a local source of not only supplies, but also valuable info - and even custom fly tying? Pity its the end of the season really!

Cheers

Les H

Went into the Alloa shop today. Wasn't aware it had been taken over. Far more choice of flies now and some good advice on riv fishing techniques. Went in for indicators for Stillwater buzzer fishing and the owner, jim, made them from scratch. Obviously I'll be able to make them myself now I've seen it done!

While talking to him he said he tied special order flies. Showed me a example of a foam daddy which looked superb. After blethering for a few minutes he offered to tie me a blue bottle imitation.

You should see these. I wouldn't leave it lying around or the mrs will hit it with a rolled up paper.

Never met him before but really helpful and knows his stuff!

His blue bottles featured in one of the mags recently don't know which one though.
