Default Autumn has arrived

I was out fishing yesterday, and I saw the 1st skiens of Pinkfoot geese arrive.then later in the day I saw a large flock of fieldfares.Just about spot on time wise for the start of winter migration to the UK.

The best time of the year jim. Plenty of nature on the move, beautiful colours. Nature at it's best.

Lorks Guv ,London is not that bad, heard a skein of geese go over the two "bl'@@dy stadia this morning ,had a team of corvids bullying a cat in the boughs of the weeping willow in the next garden ,something never seen before a Jay a crow and 3 or 4 magpies giving out hell at the rather dazed looking cat up in the upper boughs .
Through the winter I expect to get in some Wandle clearance,a tad of grayling fishing and hopefully a few beach castings for Cod .
All thats within an hour or so drive out of Highbury !

Central heating on last thing yesterday and first thing today, as overnight temperatures in Hampshire were down in single figures. First time for months.

When Autumn is good, it's very good as per last year when we had a real "golden season" as Bernard Venables called it. Fishing can be good too. But if we have a succession of dank, grey, chilly days and rain, it's no fun at all.
