I went up there this afternoon for a few hours. A few fish showing, weather was great after the storms the last few days. Water was high.
I only had the one, on a back and claret hopper, nice Blue.
First time I've been there, lovely location Had a long chat with Kenny at the lodge, nice guy.

well we were there on monday for our club competition... by god was it wet and blowing a gale!!! a few of the guys went on the boats but a few of us didnt want to risk it... so we stayed on the bank (would say dry land, but it was far from it!!!) i had a 2lb rainbow from the point to the left of the pontoon... then wandered further up the bank to where there is a little tiny island...

2 of the lads were just coming in to start a drift when i arrived, so being the man i am i wandered on a few yards and saw a fish rise... cast my line out (black eyed home tied cat booby on the point and a red ribbed diawl bach on the dropper) and as i was retrieving saw a dorsal following my booby.... it swirled then disappeared...

recast to the same spot and stripped the line a bit quicker... 7lb rainbow (my best competition fish ever!!!)

i stopped fishing at 3 coz i was soaked and a cold had reared its head...

another of the lads had a 7 and a half pound bow(also on a cat booby) which was biggest fish... a novice had 3 fish for 9 and a half and my bag was second with 9lb...

hard days fishing but well worth the effort and the guy in the lodge was spot on, plenty of banter...

Stevie
