Default line replacement or not ?

Last week i bought a new greys platinum line, when i was putting it on the reel using a nail knot to join the backing the coating come off. I tried agian and the same thing happend, 4 times. I called the shop and explained, they spoke to greys, and they want it back, would i be asking to much to get a replacement from the shop i bought it from. or would that be standard customer service. Hi scooby

I think under the circumstances you are entitled to ask for a replacement. Greys will test your line but it is unlikely that they would return it saying "Nothing wrong". They can't repair it either. Grey have an excellent reputation. The duty to replace your line lies with the shop keeper who sold it. Ask for another I use these lines and they are excellent.

There is nothing wrong with the line.

This often happens with good quality lines with a nice subtle and soft coating. After tying it once (HARD) I then strip a few cms of coating off and tie a tiny overhand knot in the core so the next nail knot has that to butt up against - works a treat

For info: I have had to do this with Snowbee, Greys, Cortland, Orvis lines

Why 'knot'

It works and it's free.

As well as that, It,s a greys platinum i had taken off, that i could not pull apart with a nail knot holding it. It should not happen. There,s a chap on the forum "who,s name i cant remember" showed me how to put a loop in the end of the line using a needle threader which i had intended to do, the nail was for quickness, But thankfully showed the flawed line. Well I bet the next one is flawed too, buddy

I have fitted probably 5 or 6 new lines on this season... all different (one was the same as the one you have)... all have stripped the coating. Perhaps I should take them all back?
