Default Teams of Flies?

HI, I have been watching a fly fishing TV show today, and one of the people on the show was fishing a Klinkhammer and a tiny #16 Gold Head Nymph on the same line, how is this done? It looked like the line connected to the nymph was just tied onto the bend of the hook on the Klinkhammer, but I doubt it.

Would anyone be able to tell me the true method of fishing teams of flies?

Thanks, James

Your first impression was correct. The Klink is fished above a small nymph, with the nymph connected by a length of leader tied directly to the bend of the Klink's hook. This is a NZ method. The more traditional British way is to tie flies onto droppers.

Thanks for the replies, I thought that if the nymph was tied onto the bend of the Klinkhammer hook it would make it float in the wrong position but the person must have put fly floatant on it or something, and the nymph was only a size 16, and thanks for the link

Hi James,
The Klinkhamer hooks are curved so sit naturally at the right angle to hang a fly from the bend. The only problem with this method is with small hooks as the knot can obstruct the gauge and/or barb
