Default CSO system causes massive fish kill on River Don

The River Don in South Yorkshire has suffered a major fish kill

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/s...re/5147104.stm

nearly two years after the massive disaster on Thames (August 2004)
http://www.4ni.co.uk/nationalnews.asp?id=31835

All concerned appear to regret this incident, so that is great isn't it - or is it?

When will the forces responsible for our environment start to respect our most valuable asset- water - and take the plague of the CSO system seriously enough to replace it with effective sewage treatment plants ?

I may just live to see that, if I get to be 200 years old.
Disgusted, as usual,
Roy

Has the CSO concerned been identified? There are many on this poor abused thread of water. If the CSO (or CSOs) can be identified then the consents for each should be checked to see if they have been breached. If they have then Yorkshire Water should be prosecuted by the EA.

200 years? Double it if you expect the EA to do anything positive about water quality.

Smile CSO's

Roy, thanks for posting that here, hope Jools is doing well!.

Anyway, if anyone knows of a club or fishing group/riparian owner which was been affected by this in some way, PLEASE let the ACA know about it!

Dr Justin Neal (justin@a-c-a.org)

There is to be a major publicity/drive against CSO's which will involve several Pro-Fishing MP's, FACT, the ACA and the S&TA. As soon as I know more I'll let you know.

P.s. Richard, if you leave your rod leaning against his lordships hut, some unsavoury git like me may nick it next time!.
p.p.s Nice Sedge fly you tie it?
