Hi everyone. I have a question reference where to trout fish near Leicestershire. Disregarding reservoirs, just looking at lake fishing only. There doesn't seam to be anywhere near here.



Any answers?

I know you said not reservoirs, but Thornton is very good and only 75 acres.

Cheers Chris. It seams the area is lacking in places to go, having to travel a great way to fish. It's a shame really.

Do you fish Thornton much?

I used to have a season ticket there a few years ago and nwo I fish it a couple of times a year. Ifor, the fishery manager, will let you know where to fish and flies to use if you do go there.

Out of interest why are you disregarding the ressies?

To open, and at this time of year windy.... Much prefer the lakes really to be honest.

Ive never fished it and only know about it 2nd hand so apologies if its duff info but I think there is a venue called Lakeside at Wymeswold just outside Leicester, is this close to you?

Agree with Chris, really nice place and very friendly and helpful advice on the few occasions I've been there. Re the wind, if memory serves it sits in a bit of a bowl so is reasonably sheltered.

If nothing else (due to the small size of the water), if the weather turns poor for an hour or so head back in and up to the pub in the village..........

Yep, Thornton has two arms (Thornton and Markfield) and so you can always find shelter in one of them should you need it.
