This time last year I did very well on the E side of sailing club bay. Cast just beyond the edge of the weed beds with a black minkie. If you don't get a take in the first 2-3 casts, move on.

Also did well in the boat basin at last light, fast sinker with a damsel booby. Again, 2-3 casts max.

But I'd ignore Rob Edmonds advice at your peril...

From the boat fishing is pretty good and the following is working...

East Creek to Normanton Church

3 Trees to Dam

Boils around the Tower in the Main Basin.......

Stuffed with Fish i'd say a Fast glass and Blobs for pulling ( or di - 3 or 5 on boils and hummungus's or big cat booby's)

Or if slow and nymph fishing is your style Slow Glass with Diawl bachs and small orange blob booby on point....

If you want try for some real fish....Manton Back of Browns Island towards Golf Course & Visitors Centre...again Diawl Bachs on Washing line........but if the water is coloured you'll struuggle up the South Arm...so just give it half a day...

Bank Fishing

Personally I'd be on the Blue Pipes as the water is deep and weed free...there's also a lot of fish there...

Or The Stones at Fantasy Island...

The arms have fish in them (not in numbers) but the water is coloured most of the time so you've got to be lucky to get it right...

The other places worth a try are the stone arms in front of the lodge......there's a lot of fry in the harbour and I know there are a few fish starting to feed on them....

So if we have a cold snap early who knows...maybe we'll get some decent fry feeding this year...

Draycote is still the water in form though...I'd travel the extra hour and go there.....it's simply amazing and can offer you the fishing of a lifetime !!

I was there on Saturday and had 12 for 45 lb.....(from the boat)....and the banks are fishing well too..

Sorry but the Anglian Waters can't compete with that quality of fishing at the moment (Rutland fish only average 2 lb at best and are mostly stockies not like the silvered up fish at Draycote)

Anyway...fishing anywhere is better than working....
