Default Using diff types of flies together

What I get from reading advice in magazines, books and online is that mostly we are advised to use one type or style of flies at the once.
Meaning buzzers together , lures together ,traditional wets together or drys etc etc
In my local fishery I catch the majority of fish on either a Viva mini lure or a small black and red buzzer . So recently have the buzzer and Viva on together and I still catch with both flies.
Am I going against the ethos of fly fishing or is this quite common?

If it is,then what other methods work well together? Is possible to use a dry fly and buzzer for example?

(I have only started back at fishing on a regular basis after years of once or twice a year, and I am a bit obsessed with it at the min lol)

There are no hard and fast rules to catching, you pick your flies and hope they entice the fish. A dry and buzzer set up is quite common and is used in the clothes line method, although some non-purists use a muckle orange blob or a float

I've often fished a weighted lure or nymph on the point with a couple of wets on the droppers, just to get the team down to the depths a little quicker.

No problem mixing and matching and it can be very effective.
A Booby or Muddler on the point with buzzers or nymphs on the droppers is known as the washing line.

A lure with a nymph can be very effective with the lure drawing the attention of the fish, and then the fish taking the nymph.

Certainly not against the ethos of fishing
