Re: thieving little scrotes
My sympathies lie with you indeed.
Back in the early 1970's, I was a pro solo singer/guitarist living near Durham and regularly toured the country for weeks on end.
I was fairly newly married and my father had just passed away so I used to drop off my late wife at her parents in East Yorkshire while I went on tour so she wouldn't be too lonely as it wasn't practical to take her with me as we had a new baby, which meant our home in Durham was left unattended for weeks on end.
Unfortunately, during one of these periods, some tw**s broke in and stole many things including all of my Hardy kit etc, along with my inherited good quality kit from my late father, which really devastated me! Worse still, during the period I was away, my home insurance had lapsed and so couldn't claim for anything.
At the time, I reckoned the value of the stolen gear was around £500.00 or more which was a very tidy sum back then but it wasn't so much the replacement costs as I was earning quite a bit and material things can be replaced - it was the fact that all my father's gear and it's intimate links went in the robbery too which upset me so much and is one major reason why I more or less gave up fishing from that period onwards.
I have only returned to fishing this year and have replaced much of it with mostly good quality vintage stuff and it's not only helping me get back into it but also it's bringing back some of those many happy memories I shared with my late father.
Thieves very often don't just take away material things - they take away things that just can't be replaced and leave one violated.
Unfortunately, in this day of "everyone's a victim" social thinking, very, very few thieves actually get the punishment they deserve!
