Default Opinions !!

Hey Guys,

I'm kind of bored today and have to stay in because its around 102 degrees .
So I thought I would lay this out for you and see what you think !!

I ordered a Fly Rod off of Flea Bay on the 16th of August. Like I need another one right? But I thought I would try this particular brand and the seller is in the UK. (I'm in the USA) So I sent them an email .

On 2011-08-29

Hi,
I have sent a previous email with no answer ! Its going on 2 weeks and
I still have not received my Fly Rod. I order from the UK all the time and
have never had anything take this long. Please respond !!

Best
Regards

I received a nice email saying:

I am very sorry to hear this you should have got it by now.

If you have not recived this by Friday we will resend, Please let us know.

Kind Regards

I sent Another Email:
On Tue, 30 Aug, 2011
I'm really dissapointed in this as I was wanting to use it this weekend..
Not a pleasant experience for a first time customer..

She then sent another back:

Wed 8/31/2011

We have had some rods come back and today due to an error at the poatal hub we have sent you an email with info about what has happend. The rods affected have all been resent.

We are really sorry about this but it was out of our hand, and the rod has been resent now.
Kind Regards,

I really cannot imagine a postal service allowing a number of packages to lay around a hub. It just sounds rediculous to me - what do you think?

By the way , I'm too old to get all bent out of shape and mad. I just think it is humorous !!

Sorry it took so long to get to the point!!

MD

My mrs ordered some UGG boots when they were the rage from a place in Hong Kong.. after maybe 2 weeks nothing and the tracking number stated they were held up a hub somewhere i have never heard of ..

anyway long to short they were sent back and this came up on the tracking info , not sure why but anyway they were re sent and she got them ..

i have been waiting near a week for a rod to come a couple of hundred miles

very frustrating .. i could of walked there and picked it up ..

if this really is the first time something like this has happened to you after long experience ordering stuff from abroad then you have been very lucky up to now.

There are numerous reasons why a package can be held up at a hub somewhere, sometimes returned to sender (if it was sent incorrectly...ie too big for royal mail airmail small packets, insufficient postage....etc), other times it continues its way after a huge delay...

There appears to be no rhyme nor reason for this.....the postal gods are fickle indeed.

An English man living above a post office in moscow sent himself a letter...to see how long it would take (notoriously slack them ruskies) took more than three months as far as i can recall.....posted it in a mailbox just downstairs !!!

Hope it arrives soon for you, and intact, and it is what you ordered, and it is good.

Just check the weather when you order something from the UK and make sure its not snowing as you'll have as much chance as a snowball in hell of ever receiving it.Jon

Hi Muddler Daddy

I don't believe the excuses I'd like to think the British postal service is more efficient than that. Slip ups do occur but they referred to a number of rodas at the hub. I think they mean a centre of operations. Have you finally got the rod?

Number 1 suspect here is the vendor. Get onto eBay resolution centre and Pay Pal before it is too late to get your money back.

Bk, No I have not received the rod as yet - they said it was sent yesterday !

Oh believe me I have had problems with the US Postal Service also.

A few months back I ordered some Sculpzillas from a flyshop in Wisconsin. When the box was delivered thats exactly what I got - A BOX. It was an empty box taped up all around. When I called the fly shop I told the owner what happened and asked him if he taped the box like that he said he didnt even put tape on it (Which was the problem.) It ended up the merchandise had fallen out along the way and the post office taped the box and sent it on.

Another time I ordered quite a lot of silicone skirting for some bass jigs. The place I bought them from sent them in a heavy cardboard envelope. When I got the package it was all chewed up on one end and half the merchandise was missing and the rest was mangled. I called the post office to enquire how a package could get damaged like that. The lady was nasty and said " Hey, if it was in an envelope it has to go thru a machine that handles flat mail!" So they had ran that fat package thru a machine that was designed for flat envelopes !!

What ever happened to common sense??

Sorry to say this, but as an old-timer I Never by a thing on Flea-Bay and do Not trust the post office of either the uk' the USA or anywhere in the world-that's from experience!! Two years ago my daughter received a postcard from Spain I had sent her when my wife and I were there in 2000! Not bad-nine years to go 900 miles!

I wouldn't trust anyone that can't write proper!

Royal Mail is a complete joke though - the number of parcels and cards that we've sent that have gone missing is ridiculous.
