On the Wandle at least, we'd never have got the river back to its upward curve without endless help from many people - a lot from this forum, you know who you are - and I'm still in awe whenever I turn up to a cleanup or river restoration event and see so many others pulling out rubbish or banging in stakes. Every river needs a family like this!
And the work goes on... we've got a rolling programme of river restoration days planned for this autumn, so feel free to come and join in, if you haven't already...

Thanks again all!

About 30 years ago, when I lived in the area, I used to walk my dog along the banks of the Wandle from the ruins of Merton Place opposite the Liberty Works, down an old footpath if I remember, through Morden Hall Park, past the tobacco mill, and past the (then) new houses to Mitcham.
I loved it then, but always thought what a great place it
could be, so I'm really pleased that all the work has now been done.
Well done Theo and the team, and everyone else who've been involved.
Now, I just need to nip down to London to see it.
cheers,
Andy
