Default advice on using watershed

as above , not knowing what dries i may use plus the added possibility of me having to use a few after loosing some to bushes etc i wanted to treat all my dry flies prior to going fishing .

can i simply drop all my flies in the solution soak them then lay out to dry? or do i have to manually treat each one coating the fly with my finger tips.

i have read people using it on only parts of the fly for varying presentations etc maybe if they wanted a particular fly to sit a little deeper but have the top half float etc etc , this is something i can look to in the future after some on water fishing time .

this one may sound daft , is it important to keep floatant off the hook ? i'm not sure it would make a hook float but not sure if it could end up making the fly sit lob sided ..

I have only recently started using Watershed having read about it here. In my limited experience it is difficult to treat only parts of the fly as it seems to soak into everything! If one treated the tying materials themselves prior to tying the fly I could see this working. Anyway I also had a lot of flies to treat and did them in batches (4 or 5 in my hand at a time) rubbing the solution well into each of them. Let them dry for 24 hours before using. Must say I was very impressed with the results.

Ditto!

Only I put them in a pile on a sheet of polythene. Put a few drops on the middle of the pile and then work it in to them all with the finger tips.
