Default I need a 9ft 9wt rod

Hey guys

its been a hell of while since i posted anything on here..

anyway as the title says,,i am looking for a 9ft 9wt fly rod preferably a travel rod ie 5 or more piece and as cheap as possible..

i`ve heard some bad reports on the shakespear travel rod so failing that i would settle for a 4 piece 9ft 9wt if the build quality is better,,cost is a major factor as i dont want to pay any more than £60..

as much info as possible would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

If you go to a four peice, you have the choice of the salt water rods by airflo, shakespeare etc

What would you recommend ??

i`ll be taking it to BC so obviously cost is a factor as i doubt i`ll be using it again back home...im just basically after a cheap rod with enough backbone should i hook into one of the big fish.

Hi Harry, good to see you back, its been a while now since you where on here.
Wait until you get to BC and buy the rod there. I was there a few years ago, the rod I brought just wasn't up to the job, I went to the local tackle shop and bought a Cortland 9ft 9wt for $80. It was a great rod and was well able to handle the salmon. One other little bit of advice get yourself a multi tip line you will need one and a big fly reel with plenty of backing at least 200 yards, but buy it all over there its a hell of a lot cheaper than here.

Harry mate I have all the BC photos on a disc some place, I'll see if I can find them and load them on the PC.
I bought a reel in Cabelas, a cheap one which was all right but to be honest if I was going back I would buy one with a better drag because trying to stop those salmon with your finger on the line is just mad, line burns to beat the band. The pinks you could handle on a trout rod but if you hook a chum in the middle of them you would want some thing with a bit more back bone as those fish are animals. Try and get a go at the Coho if you can, they weren't around when we were there, well not many any way and I still regret not getting one as they are a class fish. Also give the Sturgeon a go, see how strong you are. I had one 7ft long pulled the arms of me and its great fun trying to hold one of those for a photo.
What part of BC are you going to and which rivers will you be fishing. You know I wish I was going its been too long since I was there, must beg she who must be obeyed to let me go again soon.
