Default Fitting braided loop and lines

Please bear with me for the silly questions but being a newbie there are lots of questions and things to learn.
When I fit my braided loop should I strip of some of the line coating before I put on the loop so that the loop end is not so stiff.
Also can somebody explain the different lines and what they do, I have bought a s/h reel that has sink tip and intermediate lines ( also floating but I know what that does)

When fitting a braided loop I do not strip the fly line. Make sure the fly line goes as far into the loop as possible without overlapping. I would suggest you use Roman Moser loops they are the best on the market.

An intermediate line will sink at a determined rate. e.g. DI 5 will sink at 5 inches per second.
A sink tip will sink at the tip, the amount of line that sinks will depend largely on the make of line.

As Eddie advised, get the Roman Moser loops. On floating lines I always put a small amount of waterproof superglue on the end of the line to stop water getting in and sinking the tip
