Aged 5, living in south Wales on the Teifi estuary. Difficult not to fall in love with being on the river, or by the sea.... fishing. That's where I first came across the phrase 'fly fishing'..... was another 18 years before I tried it though.

Taken fishing by my auld man from a young age. I think i was about 8yo when i actually fell in love with fishing. The beauty and tranquility of chasing trout on lochs and rivers and that flutter in the chest when you hook a fish. Tere really is nothing else that compare imo

Think I was about 8 when the man next door showed me his tackle. My dad went . Seriously though it was the float box that facsinated me. He must have had a 100 in there, all the shapes and colours, different designs. Then the rods with their whippings and cork. A tackle tart was born, I just had to get some of this gear.

Not much has changed .

Chris.

Fishing from the back of a longboat on the Norfolk Broads on holiday when i was 5. Caught my first roach and cried when i couldnt get the hook out!! Not the best start but that night when we were moored up two guys set up ledger rods for bream and by the morning had keep nets full of slabs of bream. I was determined to be like them!! 20 years later and I still havnt caught a bream! But i did put down my course fishing rods by 10 years old and started fly fishing, haven't looked back since!!!

Started my love affair with fishing at the age of 5 when dad took me to the local pond and i caught my first fish which was a perch. Then age 17 he took me out on a boat at Bewl Water, that was it for me and 26yrs later i still love my fly fishing just as much as that day out on the boat

For me fishing wasnt so much a love at first, it was just a good reason to get out of my hell hold house, when I was a teenager I went fishing everyday no matter what the weather, I used to go with my best mate and when I look back on them days now I am so thankful of them, some really lovely memories and now stories.

As said before it wasnt really always about the fishing, its just the stuff you get up to when younger, such a sense of adventure.

We used to fish a local large stream/small river that was never fished, it was magical finding new places to fish on there and naming each place, when me and friend talk now we still refer to the places on that river with the name we gave them.

Only just started fly fishing and I feel i'm almost a kid again! Used to always bait fish or spin

I am not a fisherman, flyfisher or angler. My passion, or should I say my relationship is with the landscape of Dartmoor; her rivers and wildlife are one apsect of her curvaceous and welcoming figure which entice me to her moody but welcoming bedroom
