Default Sinking Line Questions!!

Hey guys

First of all is there different techniques for casting full sinking lines vs sink tip? I have tried using both in the past and I just didnt have the patience to mess with them. Now that I am retired I have the time but have a problem casting. I have been working with the full sink line and can really get some distance and lay it down nice. But the sink tip seems to wobble all over the place - out of control. (Please tell me that others have had the same problem !)

Next, I fish a pond close by my house for Largemouth Bass and Blue Gill which we call panfish. I want to get down deeper for the bass right now and plan on using the full sink. I will be using a 10' rod with #6 full sinking line and plan on using flies such as the Yellow Dancer , Marabou Muddlers ,Woollys and experimenting with Boobies. What length leader and tippets would be best for these types of flies with sink line?

Once I feel comfortable with the sinking lines I plan on ordering new lines from Stewart at PP.

I failed to mention that I am bank fishing !!

Many Thanks,
Rick

As a fisherman I thought that you would have more patience.
Your first mail was at 08.21 pm and were all busy watching football on the silly TV in England
Next mail was at 01.00 am. After watching the footie we all go to bed so we can get up early for work

The you throw a strop coz you have had no replies.

Patience bro , someone will answer you eventually

River fishing off a bank , i've got no idea. Sorry

Bet your asleep now I've replied

GG
I think you took my second post the wrong way . After reading my first post I thought it sounded completely rediculous so would put a stop on it. Please do not take it that I was upset about getting no replies. I normally do not ask for help on anything so after reading my post I wished I had not sent it . I quit getting upset about things many years ago.

By the way is throwing a strop like having a hissy fit??

Best Regards,
MM

When Fishing sunk lines on rivers we tend to shorten the leader.Sink tips can be a bit strange to cast.but they give you the benefit of being able to mend the line.have you tried a full floater with a sinking polyleader.

Here's a link on fishing boobies.

Not sure whether you will end up enlightened or even more confused.

Grayling I'm glad you mentioned the sinking polyleaders. Years back I had a subscription to Stillwater Trout Angler and started tying some of the UK patterns for Bass, BlueGill and Trout here in the US. I never heard of AirFlo before but saw the add about Sinking Polyleaders and purchased some. I had forgotten about them and just found them in my box of never used items in the basement.
In fact I have the Sinking Polyleaders and Sinking Braided leaders in about every sink rate. Would you think the Polyleaders better than the braid?? Or would both be about the same?
I told my wife years back that I hoped I never ended up like my dad. As he got older he didnt remember anything and now I'm next in line I guess !!

Thanks Grayling

Bill, thanks for the link . I have been using boobies with an intermediate line which has worked well for Bass. I cast it out and leave it sit on top for a few seconds and then use the strip/stop retrieve which makes it dive and float back up around weed beds. I thought I would try sinking line and use the same method in deeper water - kind of like carolina rigging for bass here in the States .
