Smile Fishing Rutland water and Ravensthorpe

Hi chaps I`m fishing Rutland waters and Ravensthorpe Reservoir this week end.As I have never fished these waters before,I was wondering if any one could give me some tips and advice on how to fish these waters and what sort of flies work best.I have been looking forward to this for months, and would really like to get a good few pulls.

I had half day boat yesterday morning and the main basin is full of Fish, if you drift along the slicks coming off the aerators there are loads of fish, fast glass with hoppers and booby on the point I had my limit by about 1100.

Then I went to Manton bay and had another two on a floater with nymphs, right at the bottom of the bay drifting from the wall and fishing just above the weed beds. You will catch the better fish in Manton but possibly not as many.

Not sure what day you plan on being at Rutland but I hope you've booked as the Ladies National and the Vision Pairs are being fished there this weekend I believe.

I have to admit I went out with the DI5 sweep and the usual combo but couldn't get a pull, it wasn't for trying

There was that many fish head and tailing in the slicks even you could have caught boil boy

I love Ravensthorpe, the fish always seem in such good condition and hard fighting. Small dark dries/hoppers do well if it's overcast. If it's bright go a bit deeper with small nymphs/DBs.
