I have carried a compact Swiss Army Knife for longer than I care to remember...if I don't have my SAK with me, I somehow feel naked without it and more to the point, there's a good chance I can't get into my home as my keys are always on the keyring!
It aalso travels with me whenever I go abroad or on holiday -they are such a useful bit of kit to have with you but one which can also get you into trouble at the airport these days if you accidently forget to put it in your 'hold luggage' before boarding a plane which I found to my cost last year when my long serving and much loved SWK was confiscated by the airport authorities at Pisa airport after I stupidly left mine in my camera bag - it sort of ruined what was the perfect holiday for me!
My new SAK has even more tools than the old one but the old one was so smooth and worn and felt part of me but the new one doesn't have the same feel somehow! Maybe after having it twenty years, I'll feel the same about it!
When I was young, like many other anglers of my generation, I had one of those multi-tool camping/hunting/fishing sheath knives ( or a large folding pocket knife with similar tools) in my fishing kit and I find that since taking up fishing once again, my SAK is definitely indispensible. Those razor sharp scissors are just great!
So, how many of you carry a pocket knife when you go fishing/camping or, which tools do you keep in your pocket or bag that you just wouldn't be without at the water side?
