I decided to have an hour on the river at 7pm, tackled up at the car and wandered to the top of the pools I fish, I spent a happy 90 minutes until the light started to go, then stopped and waited till the green had gone from the grass and the bats started to flit before starting again with a single Waddington, I'd been fishing for 10 minutes when I saw two figures and a dog moving in the dark, they walked from the hedge and started fishing not 20 yards from me, I asked them to stop but they took no notice, so I reeled in and went to talk to them, one of them was a Pole who was a member of the club, the other was unknown, I asked them why they'd just walked in front of me as it was bad manners, the member said, "I not speak good English", I said, "you do speak good English as I've heard you in the local shops, now why did you walk in front of me?", the reply was, "sorry, I not understand", so I asked for their permits after showing them my club bailiffs ticket, I was told in broken (shattered) English that they were at home, so I told them both to go home and could fish again when they were carrying their permits, I took my permit out and showed them that on the permit, that members present their permit if asked by another member of the club or club official and must not be accompanied by a dog, they again told me they could not read English and didn't understand. The Poles in the club have been warned a few times but I reckon its time something was done.
I will be putting a report into the club secretary to ask them to attend the AGM to explain their actions, then the committee can decide on the punishment and tomorrow I'll be checking to see if they are still members.
