Default pics of my day dry fly fishing

its been a while coming but finally got to fish drewent river with a dry fly,

there were no fish rising when we got there so had to cover a lot of river,
but as the sun came out so did the fish.
i missed several takes, much to the amusement of my fishing buddy who gave his day for me and walked the river just to help me out and keep me right.god he laughed so much.
this must be the most frustrating way to catch fish, and also the most rewarding, casting a fly to a rising fish and just watching in anticipation god its heart stopping stuff.
managed to catch 2 brownies not very big but great fun.
cant wait until next time.

What a lovely bit of river. It cheers me up just to look at your photos.

As for the fish, they might not be the biggest but given the choice between a day on that river and a couple of 2lb stockies - I know which I'd choose.

well done and keep at it...!!! 1 on dry fly is worth 10 under water in my opinion anyways... i,m not looking forward to the winter not because of the weather but back to sink tips, sinking and intermediate lines..
nice photos also

Thumbs up Re: pics of my day dry fly fishing

The joys of river fishing. It does not matter the size of the trout, but the fact that you managed to land 2 & had a great day in doing so.

Beautiful river and fish. Nothing beats getting away from the crowds and onto a flowing body of water!

I will take exception to David's remark though as I say that sight nymphing is as exciting as dry fly. If the waters are clear enough to sight nymph then seeing a targeted fish charge in to take a nymph is as exciting as seeing it rise to a dry. I like and practice both styles because I can't decide which I prefer.

Take care

Terry
