Default Wet flies

Just a wee question---- River fishing--- I was told that wet flies are suppose to be presented just under the surface, so if I was to add a weighted nymph to the cast that would take the flies further down in the water column, therefore are the flies being presented properly?-- --- Peter

Default Re: Wet flies

'sa funny thing that... I have fished the past 5 or 6 days on spider patterns - little fishes falling over thenselves to get at them. However, just spiders - two per cast. The water got really high and coloured the last couple of days so I dropped a nymph and or fresh water shrip pattern on.... again the fish would take it - but not the spider on the dropper. Todayy I reverted to just spiders and in two casts I had two fish - then a nymph on the point adn nothing on the dropper for the rest of the afternoon.

Did that make sense???

I would have thought wet flies can be fished at any depth on team to be honest, it would be more about their action in the current and the attitude to that current that matters more. However those were some recent observations on wee little spiders.
