Default Esthwaite Water, Cumbria advice please.

I am taking the family up to visit Cumbria, beginning of September and will be staying in Hawkshead.
Accommodation includes Esthwaite ticket, very welcome as the fly rod always travel along.
Any advice would be appreciated as I fly fish rivers (grayling, wild browns, chub, barbel) and saltwater.
I have only fished Stillwater ones in Northumbria and was very successful by sticking to what I know, stripping lures around bays and points on a fast intermediate as I would do in saltwater.
Would this be the best approach or should I try buzzers?
Will definitely fish dries if fish are rising.

Please advise….!!!

Thanks

Hi,

I fished there last year - if you can, make sure you hire a boat as it is a large lake. I found the most productive areas to be the reed beds immediately to the left of the boat jetty - casting your fly as tight to these as possible is the key. My most successful fly - cats whiskers on a floating line.

I always stay in Hawkshead when I'm in the Lakes. The Queens Head hotel does excellant food, but can be a little pricey. Well worth it though.

Enjoy.

I usually go up every june for an arranged pike comp on esthwaite with the lure angling society. I've noticed a lot of trout between the jetty and the reed line also. Another place to try would be weather bay which is at the far end (left as you go out) which seemed to have some nice fish topping.

Sorry cant help with which flies as never fished intentionally for the trout.
