Default Scarborough coastline

I was having a wander down to the chippie in said town from the parking below the castle and noticed loads of kelp at the base of the sea wall which is crying out pollack. Question is can I fish it or is it banned there due to health and safety?

I NEED SALTY FLY CHUCKING SOOON OR I'LL START TO LOSE MY MIND!!!

You can fish there, there's a chap I watch quite frequently who climbs over the wall with a step ladder, not seen him catch much but I presume they are there. Just have to be careful with your back cast.

Hi Grayson, what I meant is the access to the shoreline. It consists of huge concrete cubes placed there below the road between north and south beach to stop erosion.

Easy enough for me to clamber down with a rod but I don't want some eejit with half a brain and a clipboard to start spouting health and safety and calling the police. That sort of stuff is not welcome.

By the way what does JFDI mean?

Stuart

I fished up there (Bridlington) for a week five years ago. Beachcasting-proper job, zipplex rods and abu multipliers etc. Never caught a thing, not even a bite. Day 4 I asked the man in the tackle shop 'Are there any fish here' No he replied! Then why do you keep selling me bait? Because you keep asking was the reply .

I believe you can fish where you choose. Erm...good luck.

Chris.

You can fish anywhere you want along the marine drive. These days you have to clamber over the sea wall and on to the rock armour. As Wesley said many locals use ladders to access the rocks.

I fished the drive for 30 years but havent done any fishing there for 10 years so havent tried it with the rock armour in place. The kelp tangles close in are horrendous and yes there are lots of Pollack and Wrasse and at the momeent a good few mackeral.

I used to do a lot of sea fishing . if you want any specific clues to marks drop me a PM....

Access is free to all our coastline below high water mark but obviously you may need consent to access that area. Just **ing do it !

Thanks Andy, if you don't mind I'd like to pick your brains tomorrow evening.
